Brenna Maag and Ingrid Koenig investigate scientific theories, naming and classification to view the formal aspects of daily existence and the poetics of nature’s diversity. Maag constructs a large dome or “conservatory” of fabric doilies along with a collection of cyanotype prints documenting different doilies as “specimens” akin to snowflake crystals. Koenig’s drawings and paintings represent everyday objects and activities utilizing the diagrammatic language of scientific illustration to reveal complex scientific theories at work in our daily lives.
